One of the first settlers of the Orangeburg District, South Carolina, was William Young of Holland, who settled south west of Orangeburg Township, ca. 1735. William and his wife, Rebecca, were the parents of five children. William died before 173 8 and Rebecca married 2) Christian Minnick. Rebecca Young Minnik was a Revolutionary War patriot. Her grandson, Thomas Young (1759-ca. 1810), was born in Orangeburg District, South Carolina, the son of William Young, Jr. (d. ca. 1772). He and his wife, Hannah, had nine children, 1781-1810. Descendants listed lived in South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, and elsewhere. |
