My heart was once burdened underneath the weight of sin
Until the day I met Jesus, I met a friend
A friend who has walked with me through many a trial
Through times of sadness and darkest hours
A friend who knows me better than myself
A friend with love, understanding and compassion
A friend who doesn’t judge me, instead lifts me higher
His depth of love, grace and forgiveness is fully unknown
What He sacrificed for me, He did all alone
His Father’s face being turned away
His Father’s command He must obey
The burden of our sin as He was nailed to the cross
The freedom of eternal life He gave to the lost
I praise the God who has given me life
And can’t imagine fully what was His cost
