Hope and I decided to start our Spring trip a little early. We are not due in Pensacola Beach until Sun the 4th but we decided to head out a week early, Mar 29th. While planning our trip to Maine I discovered a new camping organization called Harvest Hosts. This is a group of vineyard and wineries and farms and ranches that allow RVers to stay a night or two in exchange for patronage to the local shops and services. Our first night was Hodges Vineyard and Winery just outside Opelika Al.
It was GREAT.
After a very small accident involving a coffee pot we were settled in and enjoying the beauty of our surroundings. http://martyandhope.com/pictures/2021/03/
We enjoyed a private wine tasting the next afternoon and enjoyed a bottle of local wine on the front porch. Daniel was our server and he was excellent. A recent transplant from the Miami area, he and his wife landed here and we are blessed to have met him. What a wonderfully relaxing way to start our vacation.
The next morning we were back on the road again … this time it was a very short hop over to Montgomery. We had made reservations near I-65 and were to wait for the kids, Marc and Susie, there. Wow what a busy place. Apprarently lots of campers have the same idea. People come and go all day and man the noise from the traffic.
Anyway … we went out for Mexican last night … Hope found a place near by called La Zona Rosa … http://martyandhope.com/pictures/2021/04/ … once again an excellent choice. Dinner was great, the company was better and soon we were back to the bus for a quiet evening of movies and cuddling 😉
